Have the Shower and Get Married--Or Not
By Tanya Enberg, Metro Toronto

There Goes the Bride: Making Up Your Mind, Calling It Off, & Moving On

In a society of skyrocketing divorce rates, There Goes the Bride offers some less-than celebratory things to consider before walking down the aisle.
This book warns future brides not to get swept up in the idea of a happily every after without first taking a critical look at why they are getting married in the first place.
Author Rachel Safier recalls how, just weeks before her wedding, her fiance called it off. Although devastated, Safier also realized that she too had cold feet about the future marriage.
There Goes the Bride features interviews with "almost brides" sharing their experiences and offers advice on whether to seek premarital counseling and how to determine if apprehension is just cold feet or cause for re-evaluating the upcoming nuptials.
Also offering tips is therapist Wendy Roberts who talks about the emotional roller coaster of calling off a wedding, finding the courage to do so and offers suggestions for saying goodbye.
There Goes the Bride is a smart resource and survival guide that is definitely worth tackling before tackling a long-term marital relationship.
